JAN STECHELE APPOINTED AS THE NEW CHIEF RISK OFFICER AND MEMBER OF THE MANAGEMENT BOARD OF PAYONE
Frankfurt am Main, 23.06.2026
Worldline [Euronext: WLN], a European leader in payment services, and the DSV Group, the Payment Competence Center of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe, have appointed Jan Stechele as a new member of the management board and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of their joint venture PAYONE.
He will take over – subject to formal approval by the regulatory authorities – responsibility for the entire risk management and IT of PAYONE starting from September 1, 2026. He succeeds Dr. Matthias Böcker, who is leaving the company at his own request as of August 31, 2026. The long-planned handover of the CRO position ensures a seamless leadership transition and maintains the operational continuity of the company.
"We thank Dr. Matthias Böcker for his great commitment, with which he has laid a crucial foundation for the transformation and regulatory stability of PAYONE's risk management and risk culture since joining the management board in January 2024. We wish him all the best for his professional and private future," explains Michael Gievert, member of the management board of the DSV Group and chairman of the supervisory board of PAYONE. "At the same time, we are pleased to have gained an experienced risk and compliance expert for our joint venture in Jan Stechele. He brings extensive experience from various companies and corporate cultures and enjoys an excellent reputation among German and European regulatory authorities."
Ottmar Bloching, CEO of PAYONE, adds: "The risk landscape in the payment industry presents great challenges. Jan Stechele's experience, who has demonstrated his skills as an experienced risk manager over many years and has earned a reputation as a strong leadership personality, will significantly support us in further strengthening our risk management. He possesses critical competencies to successfully shape the future development of PAYONE and its growth ambitions. I am very much looking forward to working with him and warmly welcome him on behalf of the entire management team. I also want to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Matthias Böcker for his excellent performance and the collaborative partnership over the past years, which has always been characterized by openness and mutual support."
The graduate business economist Jan Stechele has over 20 years of experience in the financial industry. After more than a decade at BayernLB in Munich, he has worked in various fintech companies in Frankfurt and Berlin in recent years, building broad transformative and regulatory expertise. Among other roles, he served as a board member of the neobank N26. He joins PAYONE from Moss GmbH, a regulated payment and expense management fintech, where he was managing director and Chief Risk Officer.
Thus, the PAYONE management, jointly appointed by Worldline and the DSV Group, will consist of Ottmar Bloching, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jan Stechele, Chief Risk Officer (CRO/CTO), and Corinna Valentine, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), starting from September 1, 2026.
